Jeffrey A. Moheban, CFP®

President / Founder

Jeff is the president and team leader of Avalon Wealth Advisory. After graduating from the Indiana University School of Business in 1982 and working in the industry for over a decade, Jeff founded the firm in 1999. In the time since, Jeff has been applying his extensive knowledge as a Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®) to serve and advise Avalon’s clientele of high net worth families. His creative financial and investment recommendations have helped successful individuals, including entrepreneurs, physicians, and senior executives of public companies, to achieve their financial goals. When he is not working to help clients realize their financial dreams, Jeff enjoys relaxing on the golf course and spending time with wife Erin, daughters Rachael and Hannah, and Bearded Collie Lillian.


Matthew A. Eckert, CFP®

Managing Director / Personal Financial Advisor

Matt joined Avalon in 2000 and became a Certified Financial Planner™ in 2001. Prior to that time, Matt earned a BA from Saint Joseph’s College in 1990 and then worked throughout the financial services industry, specifically in the banking and investment arenas. At Avalon, Matt provides comprehensive financial planning and investment planning advice to corporate senior executives, affluent individuals and families, and closely-held business owners. Matt is also responsible for asset allocation and modeling and ongoing due diligence of the investment managers, mutual funds, and marketable securities recommended by Avalon. When away from the office, Matt enjoys time with wife Tricia and sons Brody and Kael.  H


Julie K. McMorrow, CFP®

Managing Director / Personal Financial Advisor

Julie has over 40 years of experience in the financial services industry and has been with Avalon Wealth Advisory since 2003. Before joining AWA, Julie was actively involved with many different segments of the financial services industry.  She spent 17 years as a Senior Vice President of Marketing and Product development, assisting with the development of strategic business planning, sales and customer service, and financial consulting.  Julie has a demonstrated record in financial and investment program, bringing well-grounded performance to the development of financial planning and portfolio management.  With vast accumulated industry expertise, Julie plays a leadership role at AWA, especially in the areas of operations, technical development, and regulatory issues.  A long-time Indianapolis resident and graduate of Indiana University, Julie also enjoys spending time with friends and family as well as traveling and cooking.


Nicole M. Yankauskas, CFP®, CPWA®

Director / Personal Financial Advisor

Nicole is passionate about building meaningful relationships with her clients. By intimately understanding her clients’ financial and personal goals, she is able to provide comprehensive counsel as one of their most trusted advisors. In this role, she provides financial planning guidance covering many areas, including retirement and cash flow planning, tax minimization, estate and wealth transfer strategies, insurance and risk management, investment selection, and asset allocation. She works closely with a team of outside advisors from various financial disciplines (accountants, attorneys, insurance agents, private bankers, etc.) and coordinates the team effort. Nicole graduated from Ball State University and joined Avalon in 2011. She earned the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) designation in January 2014 and the Certified Private Wealth Advisor® (CPWA®) designation in May 2019. Nicole lives in Brownsburg, IN with her husband and three children. She enjoys being active with them outdoors and loves camping, hiking, fishing, biking, and trail running.


Spencer A. Shoemaker, CFP®

Personal Financial Advisor

Spencer joined Avalon in May 2017 and serves as a financial planner. He works with new and existing clients who consist of closely held business owners, corporate executives, physicians, and other high net worth individuals on various aspects of their financial plan. Spencer’s additional responsibilities include the design and preparation of the Avalon work product – the Financial Blueprint, along with special projects such as cash flow analysis, estate flowcharts, and retirement modeling. Spencer is also actively involved in Avalon’s investment due diligence process and sits in on our Investment Committee. Spencer is a graduate of Butler University with a bachelor’s degree in finance and economics. He earned the Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®) designation through post-graduate training in investments, insurance, tax, retirement, and estate planning. In his free time, he stays busy playing golf, watching sports, and spending time with his wife Rebekah and Golden Retriever Rey.


Jason S. Armbrust, CFP®

Personal Financial Advisor

Jason joined Avalon in August 2021 and serves as a personal financial advisor. Jason earned his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification in 2015 and has over 10 years of experience serving families that include business owners, corporate executives, and retirees. Jason’s passion is partnering with clients he serves and developing a plan to meet their unique goals and objectives, which may include estate planning, philanthropic passions, legacy planning and investment management. Jason earned his bachelor’s degree in finance with a focus on insurance from Ball State University. He and his wife, Alexandria, reside in Carmel, Indiana with their two children, Evelyn and Jack.


Crystal A. Jacquay

Senior Client Service Associate

Crystal joined Avalon in 2020 as a Senior Client Service Associate.  She works closely with her clients to ensure the seamless coordination of services and implementation of their financial needs and goals.   Crystal’s primary focus is providing exceptional client service for new and existing clients of Avalon.  She excels in client service, sound and objective professional advice and attention to detail.  Crystal earned a Bachelor’s degree from Indiana University and is currently pursuing the Certified Financial Planner™ certification.

Crystal, her husband Bryan and their daughters live in Noblesville.  She enjoys watching her girls play sports and spending time with friends and family.


Nathalia Bedrava

Executive Assistant to the President

Nathalia joined Avalon in 2013 as the Executive Assistant to the President. She also assists the Managing Directors and acts as a liaison to clients.  Nathalia coordinates meetings with clients and advisors and oversees the smooth and timely accomplishment of Avalon’s various services to clients.  With 20 years of experience on customer care in different areas, including retail, tourism, and banking, Nathalia is able to keep things running smoothly. Originally from Quito, Ecuador, she holds a B.S. in Biology from the Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Ecuador. She is fluent in Spanish.


Jessica Taylor

Client Service Associate

Jessica joined Avalon in 2021 as a Client Service Associate. Her 20-year professional career encompasses private banking, fraternity housing management, expense analysis, and syndicated loan operations. Jessica prepares client deliverables including financial statements, asset allocation illustrations, income projections, and estate document summaries. She also assists with cash flow and net worth projections as well as various research projects. Outside of the office, you can find Jessica watching a Colts game, building a detailed LEGO set, playing video games, and spending quality time with her close friends and family.


Susan Songer

Client Service Specialist

Susan joined Avalon in 2006, and has over 30 years in the financial and insurance administration fields.  She works hard to assist clients and keep them informed as she coordinates the daily aspects of their finances. She is a valuable member of the Avalon team, responsible for all implementation for the firm. In her free time, Susan loves spending time with her family, including 3 grandchildren, and her friends. Hobbies include traveling and a weekly bowling league.


Cathy South

Client Service Specialist

Cathy has been part of the Avalon family since 2005.  Some of her responsibilities include correspondence, account set-up and maintenance, beneficiary processing, monitoring vendor processing,  operating and maintaining portfolio management software, and generation of quarterly investment performance reports. Cathy also interacts with clients and their tax advisors on cost basis, gain/loss reporting, and investment income. Cathy attended IUPUI and brings with her a wealth of experience in the banking, securities, financial planning, and related industries.  Outside of work, Cathy has a passion for animals, art, and the ocean.


Patti Duffy

Part-Time Associate

Patti is Avalon’s part-time office administrative assistant.  She handles all the firm’s filing as well as clerical and administrative support.  Patti began working at Avalon in 2006 and finds the work environment both professional and congenial.  She takes professional pride in being a part of the AWA team.  Prior to joining Avalon, Patti received a BA in marketing from Northern Illinois University and worked as a third-party administrator of insurance benefits.  Providing topnotch customer service to clients is her priority.


Susan E. Mitchell

Compliance Administrator

Sue joined Avalon in 2018 as the Compliance Administrator and is responsible for coordinating regulatory compliance items for the firm.  With over 35 years of industry experience, Sue handles the day-to-day regulatory responsibilities and advises senior management on areas to maintain Avalon’s strong culture of compliance.  Trust, integrity and high ethical standards are the building blocks of any successful organization.  Sue is originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and is still an avid Steelers fan.  She enjoys spending time with Mitch and their families, including their grandchildren.  Activities include biking and sports.
